Choosing your bespoke flooring

The colours on our site are available on a wide range of different boards—all of which are engineered oak.

We aim to give you all the information you need to make an informed choice about the best style, grade, width and depth of board to suit your tastes and your space. We have done our best to configure Istoria in such a way that every decision lies in the hands of our customers, and are proud to offer a truly bespoke service.

As part of that ideology, we are very happy to create new colours for you in our London workshop or source different boards upon request—just let us know what you are looking for!

How to choose your Istoria Bespoke flooring

Choose a colour

Choose your colour from our extensive library of bespoke shades or bring in a colour for us to match. All bespoke colours are available in all boards, including sizes, widths and grades.

Choose a style

Choose from either our standard planks or patterned designs. Patterns are more intricate and will take longer to install, but they also make a statement and will be a key feature of any room.

Choose the grade

Determine the style of your floor—from modern to classic—by choosing from our rustic, character or prime grades. Your choice will determine the size of board you choose, as not all grades are available in all sizes.

Choose a size

Choose your width as well as thickness of your board. Your choice of size will determine which grade you can have as not all grades are available in all sizes.

Treatment options

You are able to add additional treatments to your board to personalise the look and feel.

Cross sawn

You can choose to cross cut the surface of your timber to give it a rough, industrial look and feel.

Distressed

The surface of your board is distressed, leaving it with random dents and marks.

Waney edge

Deeply-sanded areas on the edges of your planks. When put together the planks have a waney edge.

Choose your finish

All of our floors are finished with a clear coat of either matt or satin UV oil. You can choose whether you prefer a natural matt or polished satin look.
